A true Circus Star!

Register here!

Circus Camp is dedicated to encouraging cooperation, developing self-confidence and positive body awareness,  improving physical skills and inspiring playfulness.  Each day will have a mix of structured activity, free play time and games, and food breaks.  During the first four days we will explore skills such as clowning, juggling, flower sticks, poi spinning, hooping, spinning plates, diabolo, show production and performance.  Campers will develop the physical skills needed to learn the toys and in the process develop a camper show to be performed on Saturday, July 30.  The show is open to the public and campers receive up to 4 tickets for their families.
Here is the intermission silliness that happened during the Camper’s Circus Show in 2010.  It was Jennifer’s birthday and to help her celebrate the kids were happy to resort to the ultimate act of clowning-The Pie!

Coaches

In addition to Michael and Jennifer, owners of Try Out Toys,  some of our coaches this year include internationally-known teachers and performers of circus arts and we’re excited to play and work with them all!  More info and coach bios in May.
For more information and questions about our staff or to discuss any special needs please contact Jennifer or Michael.

Diabolo Clowns on Stage

Circus Skills

Campers will try their hand at 12 different circus skills.  After trying them all, they can pick up to four to learn in depth through out the week.  The week culminates in a Circus Show by the creative campers for their families!  Children who don’t want to be on stage can help with production of the show in all kinds of ways.

Circus Crafts

Campers playing with hoops they wrapped themselves!

Each camper will be able to make 3 circus props to take home so they can keep playing.  They will make a set of Juggling Balls, a giant Hula Hoop and a pair of Sock Poi.  We are exploring some other crafty ideas too, so stay tuned.

Circus Games and free play time

Circus games, playground time, and free play time to explore the circus arts.

Throughout the 5 days, Campers will learn a variety of circus arts and performance basics.

Campers who are interested will also be involved in the production of the Saturday Camper Circus Show.  If your child prefers to be behind the scenes and not on stage, that’s fine too!

Some of the skills we will explore:

  • Clowning
  • Juggling
  • Poi
  • Spinning Plates
  • Sphereplay/ Contact Juggling
